The wait is finally over. We’re so excited to introduce Pixie Disposable Tampons, a new addition to our growing collection of thoughtfully designed menstrual products.

Because here’s the thing: period care isn’t one-size-fits-all and we want to be your one stop shop..

Maybe you’ve been using a menstrual cup for years and absolutely love it. Maybe you’re a devoted menstrual disc user. Maybe you’ve tried reusable period products but they just aren’t your thing. Or maybe you’re curious about making the switch but simply aren’t ready yet.

Why Did Pixie Add Tampons?

We’ve always wanted to give our community options because, let’s face it, menstrual cups and discs aren’t for everyone.

Our mission isn’t to tell you there’s only one “right” way to manage your period. It’s to provide honest period education, thoughtfully designed products, and the information you need to make the best choice for your body and lifestyle.

That’s why our lineup continues to grow.

Alongside our menstrual cups, menstrual discs, and other reusable period products (like our reusable pads), we’re excited to offer disposable tampons and our customer-favorite disposable menstrual pads.

Whether you need something for a busy day, travel, your first period, or simply prefer disposable period care, Pixie wants to meet you where you are.

Why Reusable Period Products Aren’t the Right Fit for Everyone

There are many reasons someone may have difficulty using a menstrual cup or disc. Pelvic or anatomical differences can make insertion, positioning, or removal more challenging, while conditions such as vaginismus can make insertion uncomfortable or difficult depending on the severity.

Accessibility can also play a role. Body size, flexibility, mobility, arm length, and individual anatomy may affect someone’s ability to comfortably reach or remove an internal reusable product. Dexterity challenges, hand or wrist limitations, disabilities, or injuries can make the folding, insertion, and removal of a cup or disc difficult as well.

And sometimes, there’s no specific reason at all. A person may simply not like how a cup or disc feels, and that’s a perfectly valid reason, too.

Our menstrual discs and applicator can make internal period protection more accessible for some people because the experience may feel more familiar to those who have used tampons. However, discs aren’t the right choice for everyone either, which is exactly why we believe having options matters.

Adding tampons to Pixie’s product line doesn’t mean we’ve changed our belief in reusable products. It means we recognize that every body, lifestyle, ability, and preference is different.

Our goal has always been to help people find period products that work for them, while providing the education they need to make an informed choice.

Because the best period product is ultimately the one you can use comfortably, confidently, and consistently.

We’ll Always Be Team Reusable

Adding tampons to our lineup doesn’t mean we’ve changed our minds about reusable period products.

We still love menstrual cups and menstrual discs best, and they’ll always be a big part of the Pixie family.

Reusable cups and discs can be used for years with proper care, which can make them a cost-effective and more sustainable alternative to disposable products. They can also be worn for up to 12 hours, depending on your individual flow and the product’s instructions.

Unlike tampons, menstrual cups and discs collect rather than absorb menstrual fluid. Menstrual discs and cups also don't have the same TSS risk associated with tampon use, though it’s still important to follow proper cleaning and usage instructions.

But we know reusable period products aren't for everyone, and we don't think they have to be.

What About Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS)?

Whenever we talk about tampons, we believe education is just as important as the product itself.

Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is a rare but serious condition that has been associated with tampon use. That’s why it’s important to follow the tampon’s instructions, use the lowest absorbency needed for your flow, and change tampons as directed.

We’ll continue educating our community about TSS and tampon safety because knowing how to use your period products safely is an important part of feeling confident during your cycle.

Choose What Works for You 

At Pixie, we don't believe you need to choose just one period product forever.

You might use a menstrual disc at home, tampons when you’re traveling, and pads overnight. You might use a tampon most days and reach for a menstrual cup when you’re headed to the pool.
